Alumni Summit 2026 – Department of Philosophy

The Department of Philosophy, University of Hyderabad (UoH) successfully organized the Alumni Summit 2026 from January 19–21, 2026. Held under the theme “Connection, Networking & Collaboration,” this summit, was attended by more than 50 alumni. It had an additional historical weight as it coincided with the 50th Anniversary of the Department of Philosophy.

The summit commenced with an official welcome address by the Head of the Department, Prof. Ananda B. Sagar. In his address, he highlighted various achievements of the department. Acknowledging the legacy of the department, the Vice-Chancellor expressed his best wishes to both the Alumni and the Department and exhorted them to continue the legacy of the Department. Another key highlight of the event was the presentation by Prof. Debashis Acharya, the Alumni Cell Director.

The three-day program was well structured to balance nostalgic reconnection with academic rigor:

Day 1 featured a “Then & Now” campus tour, reconnecting alumni with old and new spaces. An open mic and interaction with retired professors fostered nostalgia, ending with a tribute to departed members. A committee, led by Dr. Shinod NK, was formed to establish the Alumni Association.

Days 2 and 3 included 18 presentations on topics from AI ethics to classical philosophy.

The Department extends its thanks to the Coordinators, Prof. Ananda B. Sagar and Dr. Venusa Tinyi, for their leadership in executing this milestone event.
